Interesting that the negotiations with ESPN are 20 days in and not a word on how they are going, meetings or even if they have met in person. Just a McMurphy vague reference as to value of a BE contract.

I wonder if the talk of adding a couple of bowl games is in any way related to these negotiations?

Im sure it is difficult for both sides to even know who will be in this conference over the next couple of seasons. Value has to be hard to determine.

Likely because ESPN is in back door negotiations right now with the Big 12 to take 2 Big East teams before they can get to the open market.

From a recent ESPN story "The amount the Big East receives for its new media deal could be a huge factor in attracting BYU, Air Force or Army, sources said. Media estimates have projected the Big East's deal annually will be worth between $60 million to $130 million. Those figures would translate to between $3 million to $6.5 million for each football-only member and $4 million to $8.7 million for each full member."

Anyone else think that seems kind of low?

the whole article was written for 2 reasons, to further devalue us as a conference and to CREATE bad blood between the BE and BYU. the infamous "industry source" has emerged again to wreck havoc.

so how much are the BB-only members getting?

I think the non-football schools get the difference, or $1 mil to $2.2 mil from the "estimates" given in the article.

ESPN is low balling the Beast for sure... the reason why you won't hear anything until after the negotations are complete is because all sports news is generated by ESPN, and the Big East does not want to leak to NBC that ESPN is low balling them.

The Big East will want to leave the negotiations with ESPN and tell NBC that ESPN offered some cooked up number in an attempt to trick NBC into out matching ESPN.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
