I'm frustrated too but not ready to give up on Holtz. I didn't anticipate a perfect season anyways and he could still turn things around this year. I'll evaluate his body of work in December/January, not September.

What I need to see to stay on his bandwagon is a team that is at least 4-3 in the Big East this year, 7-5 overall. Otherwise it will be very difficult to argue he has earned his paycheck or renewal (even though he will still get both for the foreseeable future).

I don't think frequent head coach changes are good for the program or the university. I would not have renewed him so soon, though. That was a mistake IMO.

Coaching changes have worked for Pitt they beat USF 3 years in a row.

The way I see it and/or rationalize it is that Skip has BJ as his QB, is not his type of QB and doesn't know how to maximize his potential. Once he has his QB no excuses. One could argue he has had a few years to get his QB in there. I have not been the biggest fan of the BJ years.... But nothing beats a good BJ

Fair or not Pitt has tradition to get it through frequent coaching changes whereas USF doesn't. Sure Pitt has done well against USF (haven't most Big East programs?) over the last three years but how has it done as a program overall both in terms of record and reputation? Not well. First two losses this year were brutal.

I'm not saying changes may or may not be warranted but it just seems like everyone wants blood after a single loss. I think it's the tension of not being able to change the players like in the NFL. But I'm not convinced changing the coach three years into his contract - one-fifth the age of the program- will fix the problem.

Internet crashed during the editing of my last post...

Essentially to rebut Sanjay and Mission, I never went to the media to overthrow the Leavitt regime. Did I talk with Brett? Yes. I still do. Heck, before the Miller choke/slap/kiss on the cheek, I wanted us to replace Leavitt (read my old messages on how Leavitt peaked). It was pretty obvious after what went down that I wasn't a minority and the school found their perfect out to remove the "most powerful man in the building".

Another myth ...

I do my best to avoid Bull on Bull crime for the most part on here. I'd rather beat down a Gator.

Yeah, Bullwinkle, this is why I chose not to carry on with the conversation. I don't always approve of The Sheriff's opinions but he is a strong supporter of all things USF. While there were things in a normal conversation I would air out or clear up with The Sheriff of USF in person over a beer, I feel that message board arguments comes accross as mean spirited rather than getting across a firm opinion. Since he should have a general understanding of what I was trying to convey and he responded fairly in kind, I have chosen to let things be....

Triple B, I finished at USF in 2001. I had a close friend, who I would trust my life to, who assisted with the basketball program. He had a negative opinion of him and I was shocked. He said he had a run in with him and heard those exact words come out of his mouth. This was years before slapgate. That statement, I'm sure came out of his mouth on several occasions. Not sure how you can say that is a myth.

Actually Barrington crushed a Nevada receiver in the final minute after we took the lead. He got flagged 15 even though he led with the shoulder not the head. I remember it manly because I could not remember the last time I saw one of our guys really hit somebody. The last time the defense opened up a whole can of whupass may have been the 2009 fsu game.

In my opinion, when a football player has the opportunity to knock someones jock sideways, you take it! I have not seen anybody even attempt a good, clean, jockrocker this season.

Copy, go back to the beginning of the thread, paste comment, and try to post again.

I stand corrected, yes he did.

Just basing it on the investigation and how it was part of the smear in the "investigative reporting" yet the one who it was attributed to, under oath, said he didn't know where that came from ... and I'm sure that people who have actually seen an actual Bigfoot don't think it's a myth but I haven't, so to me it is ... We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
