holtz deserves 2 more years with full support

that said---if he doesnt bring in a new qb to start--holtz is done in any event

We'll have a new starting QB no matter what after next year.

Hell, someone next year to light a fire under BJ's butt would be nice. Competition always brings out the best in everyone.

Dell is the same guy who bashes USF every chance he gets. Not many positive articles, but he has listed nearly ever arrest and player incident. He also has been tough on USF and the Big East for losses, and other issues. If I recall, he was all over the Mike Ford issue. He was in the middle of the UCF should play USF whining battle, on more than one occaison. Probably BF with BMM.

In addition to this article, if you do a google search on Alan Dell and USF, you get these other nuggets/articles.

"After UL Loss, USF will have worst BE finish"

"USF's Holtz getting comfy in Heartbreak Hotel"

"USF stoic amid chaos in Big East"

"USF's ship sinking fast under Holtz"

Also

"Big East needs UCF"

I bet he saw where bashing USF helped BMM's career and his hoping to do the same. BTW, he supposedly writes for Rivals too.... Having a hey day.

He should check his facts better.

If we beat WVU, then it will be the 2nd time we have finished with a 2-5 league record (2008 being the other time).

What Smazza is saying is bring in a new one next year and I agree...

Right, because BJ is the sole reason we're sitting at 5-6 ... Unless you've got some 5 star, can't miss qb coming in, not letting BJ play his senior season would be just plain ignorant. You've got enough problems elsewhere to that you don't need to be messing with something that doesn't really need fixing.

Trip gets it.

I am not sure why some think the coaches can just light a fire under BJ and things will be different?

You can't coach up something that isn't there. BJ is an amazing athlete.....and I feel pretty confident with him when he runs the ball. Our offense moves the ball when he doesn't throw. He has a strong arm but it just isn't accurate. Eveld is the same thing....less the athleticism that BJ brings.

I don't know what Matt Floyd can do......and I am not hearing really anything good out of the QB's that we are currently recruiting.....but without someone who can throw the ball......accurately....we will always have this problem regardless of who the coach is.

Seemed the article was pretty dead on to me. Holtz is paid a lot and has not delivered much so far. Cupboard was not bare and what do we have so far:

Most wins have been very close and often teams have come back on our defense

Many bad losses. Pitt, Conn, Syracuse, Louisville

Terrible Big East results so far

Home record not good

Team development and coaching seems suspect

Recruiting not enough to say since he stayed with CJL players first year. Which was right thing to do. Last year seemed good but let's see.

Some very silly excuses

Fan base shrinking and generally no buzz

Hope things get better but even as a long time fan I am growing discouraged with direction of Program

I agree with general concept that he is being payed an above average salary and he greatly underperforming. However, I also believe that we have to give him at a minimum another year (depending on how good/bad we perform next season) to give him a fair and reasonable shot chance.

I agree with you as well. He deserves more time but also we need to seem something that resembles improvement. I know injuries have been a problem as well. But some of the direction seems questionable such as the aforementioned medical hardship waiver and lack of playing time. And what kind of team are we, run, pass, defense based. First time in history just seemed like we have an identity crisis.

Hope he can get us going cause I love the Bulls
