Texas will get their way and TCU and Houston will not get an invite.

Agreed.  So the question becomes to you ignore the 13th largest media market and bypass Florida exposure?  I don't think the conference cares so much about the Florida recruiting pipeline (with Texas firmly in their backyard), but I do think that the Big 12, while a MAJOR conference, is still very much ignored by large swaths of east coast viewers.  Picking up a some NE or East Coast school for the conference seems ridiculous, but a WVU, Louisville, Cincy and USF would be a decent package deal....if

Boise State?  I mean, really?  They are sort of a gimmick program.  TCU, Houston....no way.  BYU...they seem to have little interest.

Mizzou to the SEC.  The four above to the Big 12.  Colorado, A&M, Nebraska and Mizzou are losses, but in terms of TV sets and expanded regional exposure I feel the conference is more a media/media dollar power in the Big East/Big 12 configuration (at least with Texas and OU still on board).

Yeah I don't think Houston would get an invite either.  I don't think the conferences that survive realignment will take non-BCS teams and make them BCS teams - with a few notable exceptions (Boise, BYU, etc.)

Good for them, they're a top 10 team in popularity. We're no slouch at about the ~50th most popular team.

What's more, apparently, we have almost 2x as many fans as Louisville.

I hope Houston could join the Big East. Would LOVE it being from Houston. They are improving in football and have a pretty good baseball program. Outside of that, I don't about their sports

Its all well and good that we have a large DMA...shows potential.

The more important piece is how we drive ratings in our local market. Having a large market just gives us more of a chance to drive those ratings... but... having a larger market doesn't necessary mean that more eyeballs are actually watching..

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
