USA Today Coaches Poll: USF 27th

I've always thought that the AP poll is ever so slightly more valid than the coaches poll. The writers can at least read a report about most games, where as a coach has 0 time to do such a thing. A few years ago I heard that one coach admitted that he had someone fill out his ballot.

So who do y'all think is our biggest threat leading up to Pitt? Ball State or UTEP?

I feel like if we can go 4-0, we should get a little more respect in the coaches poll.

The AP is the poll usually cited as the ranking next to a team during games in the media (e.g. on TV, Radio, etc). From that perspective it's better to be ranked in the AP than the Coaches. However, the Coaches poll is actually a part of the BCS equation, whereas the AP is not.

Kind of goes hand in hand. I think we're ranked in the Coaches poll next week simply by virtue of us being in the AP this week. We'll be on more coaches minds.

TripleB is right. UCiF was #39 & #33 in the AP & Coaches preseason polls. They received 5 and 22 votes respectively. This week UCiF is #40 & #34 with 10 AP votes and 18 Coaches votes. So UCiF lost a spot in in each poll. They gained 5 votes in the AP, but lost 4 in the coaches poll. All for beating Charleston Southern 62-0.

Not to mention they'll lose to Boston College this week and get absolutely throttled in Provo against BYU.

Im guessing if we keep winning, we'll be somewhere between 15 and 18 in the AP poll and 18-22 in the Coaches when we go to play Pitt. Win that and we'll start really moving up. Not overly confident with that game though being that its a Thursday night game on a short week on the road.
