Rivals says Jamie in town for OV 247 disagrees.. Has one scheduled for Temple next w/e. Maybe we can pre-empt that.

@MattHomeTeam: Coach: 3-star RB Jamie Gilmore "would love" to go to #USF. http://t.co/YbnLYkXl

the 247 site is showing he's coming for a visit.

I hope we take his commitment, it kills me (only joking a lil lol) that he wants to come here, yet our coaches kinda have him in waiting if we don't get the RBs they have ranked higher (which we won't).

WKU in top three for No. 7-ranked all-purpose RB Gilmore

The success of former All-American running back Bobby Rainey continues to influence WKU football recruits.

Rainey's accolades last season as a senior at WKU have caught the eye of several nationally ranked recruits, including North Marion High School (Fla.) product Jamie Gilmore.

Rivals.com rates Gilmore as the No. 7-ranked all-purpose running back in the country. His list of scholarship offers includes Cincinnati, Duke, Utah, Rutgers and others.

But as the Feb. 1 signing day approaches, Gilmore has trimmed his list of top schools to South Florida, Temple, and WKU.

Gilmore has already made his official visit to South Florida. He'll be visiting WKU on Jan. 20, and Temple the weekend of Jan. 27-28.

He described his football skill set as that of a "playmaker."

An ESPN.com analyst described the 5-foot-8 running back as "small, but extremely quick and explosive. Has great quickness and change of direction."

Said Gilmore: "I can make a play at any end of the field."

Gilmore's high school rushing statistics confirm his home-run threat ability.

In one playoff game vs. Fivay High School (Fla.), Gilmore scored all four of his team's touchdowns on just 13 carries, putting Fivay away 28-0. He finished with 162 yards, a 12.4 yards per carry average.

His brother, Eddie Rocker, plays at Florida A&M University.

Gilmore said the proximity to his family is one reason he enjoyed his USF visit, but that he wants to visit Temple and WKU before making a final decision.

"South Florida has a great program. It's also an in-state school, close to my family." he said. "Talking with the WKU coaches, it also seems like a great program."

In fact, Gilmore said he spoke with WKU Head Coach Willie Taggart over the phone on Saturday.

"Coach Taggart told me today about how excited he was for me to be visiting soon," he said. "He also told me about his (Rainey's) invitation to the East/West All-Star game, which is cool. They used him as a major part of their offense, which I liked."

Along with good relationships with the coach's, Gilmore named playing time and feeling "at home" on his official visits as major factors that will affect his final decision.

He said he expects to announce his decision on National Signing Day.

So are we done at RB? Seems like this kid would have been a nice addition.

not necessarily... he adds some good long-term depth to the team.

I'd like to see him come here just to have more depth on the Kickoff and Punt return units.

Once Mitchell went out......we were really limited just having Landi back there fair catching everything.

Also, Shaw is one of our KO returners and we are actually going to be thin at RB.......who would have ever thought that back when we had like 9 or 10 RB's on scholarship.

When GA tweeted that Michael Pierre committed he also included something to the effect of, "barring any surprises this should be the only RB in USF's 2012 class".

I asked him to clarify if he had news that Gilmore and/or Powell were out, but he didn't follow up with me.

Powell went back home without an offer. Gilmore wasn't brought in for an official. Unless other current commitments fall through, I don't think he's part of USF's plans for 2012 class.

The Pierre commit leads me to believe we may be on to better looking RB's for the 2013 class.

Didn't mean to call you out, GA. Appreciate the info

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."
