I'm afraid I shouldn't really have commented on this. We'll see, some of it is me being quite subjective about it. Are you comfortable with 50/50 odds of keeping him? He has been to Athens on an unofficial before, so he knows the town. Note that the rents aren't going to Athens this w/e. I just think he is being really mature in the way he approachs this.
