It's an objective assessment, that sounds fair. That being said, there's nothing pleasant about having to endure the learning curve.
RickUSF Posted October 19, 2010 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 521 Reputation: 2 Days Won: 0 Joined: 09/11/2010 Share Posted October 19, 2010 Holtz is trying to make Daniels more of a pocket passer than someone who just runs around and makes plays off improvisation. That has been a slow process, but it's a necessary one. For too long, the Bulls offense was based too much on the quarterback's scrambling and inventiveness, and when that didn't work not much else did. This offense will be much better off and much more multi-dimensional once the quarterback situation improves. +1so many years have been dependent on the improvisational skills of Blackwell, Grothe, and Daniels. We finally have a staff that can DEVELOP a true QB, instead of just having one take a snap and just run around waiting for secondaries to break down. ECU was a smash mouth, defense minded team. Pinckney was a 6th year QB who still had issues last year. I didn't see anything special from the QB position during the staff's ECU tenure. USF's offense was never great, but it was much better than it has been this year, and it has even been better with Daniels at quarterback than it is now. Daniels looked promising last year. But I agree with the blogger's overall argument that because the team is going through the change in philosophy, things are going to get better. I even still think Daniels can become a productive player in the offense as we've seen it, but it's probably not a change that's going to be apparent by the end of this season, which is hard to swallow. But we'll see.
