Cops have protocol.  They cannot just willy, nilly, pull out a gun or taser and use it on a suspect.  They will be disciplined and or lose their jobs.

I respect the LEO's... but I also have seen things time and again at RJS that don't follow protocol... Some... not all of the officers... do what they want.

FYI, from what I remember, most of the officers who work inside RJS during the game are considered off duty work. I don't know if it applies to TPD, but most of those FHP guys get like double overtime or something to stand out there in the sun for 3 hours. My dad was offered that position after he retired (from a different state agency), and it's pretty cushy. So them being on RJS/TSA property, they may have some different protocols to follow. TSA/The Glazers/whomever is running the show may have a say that LEOs get people out and it does seem that they have a pretty strict zero tolerance policy, because they're quick to pull people from the stands, even if they're just being loud...seems they want to minimize any and all distractions, which I can understand.

Cops have protocol.  They cannot just willy, nilly, pull out a gun or taser and use it on a suspect.  They will be disciplined and or lose their jobs.

Most people do not get (a) kicked out of a stadium and (B) tased if they didn't do anything wrong.  By the statements, it sounds like the FHP saw and ID'ed this guy as being a problem.  Then a cop talked to him and he apparently didn't follow directions.  Then they warned him and he kept at it.  Then they did what they had to do to remove him from the situation.

Open and closed case.  Let the courts deal with it and let him try to sue someone, that is what the courts are there for.  Big assumption on the facts, but it sounds like a spoiled college kid, afraid to tell his parents he screwed up.  So now we supposedly have a stadium police force, who in a wonton manner, attack innocent fans at USF football games?  Sounds like an interesting theory.

I have been a season tix holder since day one.  I have not been harassed by police ever, nor has anyone in my section been harassed or tased that I have ever seen.   I've seen a few drunks get escorted out, I've seen a few loudmouths get warned about language, and once saw an argument almost turn to fists, but nothing more than that.

From the statements, it appears the kid screwed up.  Needs to move on.

Crazy how people who were at the scene said he did nothing to deserve even getting kicked out much less tazed. I bet you are pig/ex pig, right?

Yes cops willy nilly taser people... I think that has been pretty well documented.

3 stories.....one 86 year old lady was bed ridden and when she told the cops to get out....when her grandson called for medical help....they tasered her. They said she "took a more aggresive stance"....from bed, while on oxygen.

The 2nd lady article shows a 3rd grade school teacher....57 was tasered because she would not tell the cop who the man at her house was.

Last article shows the cops tasered a dude who was told to provide DNA evidence to the court....to incriminate him in a crime.

I love how in one article, people can automatically assume police brutality or that these fans were d-bags. So much for the facts and innocent until proven guilty.

You can't buy those seats they were sitting in so USF nor Ticketmaster did not sell opposing fans seats in that section.  I'm sure a season ticket holder sold those seats online or to a reseller.  Those guys probably just bought them outside the stadium.

There are maybe 150 cops at the stadium and 40,000 fans.  Cops take absolutely 0 **** on game days.  People around the situation probably called TSA/police over.  TSA/Police likely observed the situation for 2-3 minutes and decided to take the Cuse fans out before anything could escalate.

You don't get tased until you resist following the officers orders.  If you are getting kicked out of the game there's no amount of arguing that will get you to stay in your seat.  Arguing will only lead to further actions by the cops.

If the cops says, "you guys got to go." and everyone in the Cuse fan's group left (as reported) and he stayed back to argue, that's his mistake.

Did he absolutely need to be tased?  Probably not, but the officer makes that decision.  Was it the right decision? I suppose we may find out in court, but I really don't see this case going anywhere.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
