For those who think I'm out of my mind... Page three of this thread. First the UF job, now the Slantinel. What's up with the Times chasing away our best beat writer?

Doesn't this kinda seem like Rocky 5 to some of you on here. Rocky takes in Tommy Gunn... he blossoms as a fighter working with Rocky... then BAM! Tommy Gunn kicks Rocky to the curb without thinking twice! Never trust a Gator folks... hence why I won't ever have a relationship with a Gator woman!

Directly from the Journalism board:

'Auman is a courtesy interview. Period. The UF job at the Sentinel would be a step up for him. He didn't get a job covering UF for the university and now he's supposed to get a national job?'

Seems like peers in his industry aren't as sold on Greg as his brainwashed cult following is here.

He is feeding his family. Last I looked, he's covering the Bulls beat and getting paid for it. I say get a USF grad who values the fan base and will want to keep the job!

Yes, by all means get a guy who has no ambition beyond being a homer Bulls beat writer at the St. Pete times.

Greg Auman does a hell of a job. I read his blog multiple times a day, every day. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better beat writer anywhere, from a fan's perspective, in terms of quality and frequency of content. He works weekends and events around the clock. I think it would be a significant loss for Bulls Nation if he left. However, given that he does do such a hell of a good job, I think he deserves to get paid whatever he feels he deserves, and get treated well. If those things aren't to his liking at his current job, he certainly deserves an improvement of those things elsewhere.

Greg - if you leave - you will be greatly missed! But good luck on landing a great position somewhere!

P.S. I think Athletics should consider hiring this guy... with all due respect to whomever works the website now.... just thinking Auman could really contribute a lot to the website content and perhaps marketing. Just a thought.
