Really glad Holtz pulled the offer yesterday now. Would have been embarrassing to have Carnes pick WKU over us.

Not surprised he picked them either; considering they have two local guys on staff now

He also had offers from Clemson, Georgia, Lville

Based on who's word?  Kinnan mentioned a whole bunch of big time schools, then he goes to WKU.  Either he really wants to play four years at QB, or he didn't really have all those offers.

Wow. If the kid's goal is to get to the league he chose (or was forced) into the toughest path. Good luck to him.

the QB position isnt really about where you played in college to get into the NFL.  look at guys like Joe Flacco.

if Carnes is really an NFL talent (way too early to tell) then the NFL will find him even if he is at WKU.

but i dont understand why he would  give up playing college football at some of the top programs in the country in terms of atmosphere (clemson and nebraska) to go play at WKU.  sitting out a year or not, personally, id rather be on one of those programs over WKU.

Makes you wonder about his grades, kind of bizarre that a 4 star talent would go to a Sun Belt scholl.

And already pointed out the talent level is a step down...could be reading about a transfer in a couple years, if he's not happy.

Wonder is his coach will be changing his mind on making a trip to Ray Jay this season...

if Holtz pulled the offer to save us embarrassment it is a recruiting loss nonetheless. If he pulled the offer because he has another highly recruited player in mind then I can't wait to find out who it is. No news after today? Or do I need to join Rivals to find out?

He brought in Gunsby, who is much more talented than Carnes despite the stars.

do you honestly believe this?

While Gunsby may be good... he was projected as  TE at UF... fact remains, Carnes is CONSIDERABLY more talented.

no matter how you look at it...it is tough for a school like ours which doesnt have knock out classes every year....to recruit a solid QB when we have a returning starter who is only a soph and played as well as BJ did as a freshman.

We will be OK.  Good luck Carnes enjoy playing the Sun Belt conference and wish you all the success.

But for what we need the most talented QB out there wouldn't be very happy; and possibly transfer in a year or two. What we have is BJ who by all means would have been the starter with Carnes on campus as well. That means Carnes would have took a redshirt AND sit 2 years just to see the field. By all means as much as I believe Brion wanted to be here in July I have a feeling his interest waned every time that BJ had a good game because it was just adding to him sitting on the bench. Gunsby will be a fine back up for 4 years; because by the time BJ graduates I expect to have a RS Sophomore QB ready to jump in. Next year is the year we need to get a highly touted QB(Stevie Weatherford?) not this year

"Carnes hasn't posted a qualifying test score yet, and if that doesn't change, he would have an easier time enrolling at Western Kentucky."
