Interesting quotes from South Florida coach Jim Leavitt after today's practice.

Leavitt said that while Matt Grothe is doing great, backup quarterback B.J. Daniels is pushing him. And Leavitt said Daniels will get on the field somehow this season.

"We're going to play B.J.," Leavitt said. "He's just too good not to get in the game. How it's going to play out, we have not talked about it. I'm sure B.J. is trying to beat out Matt and is hoping he's the starter."

To me this just sounds like Grothe will have a shorter leash this season.  If he hucks a couple picks early he will get yanked.  Hell, maybe Canales has some Wild Cat plays designed to have BJ and Grothe on the field.

Grothe is NOT going to get pulled. Where do you people get this stuff?

In my opinion, MGs worst game was probably against Cincy in 2007. I also know that in that game, we had receivers hurt, and there were some bad routes run. In the end, he threw a great pass that would have won the game, but it was dropped.

Point: even on a bad day, MG generally gives us the best chance to win. Even last year, TD pass to take the lead against Pitt. Nice drive to take the lead against UL last year as well. In about 16 months, I really hope that we are still so high on Daniels, I have a serious fear that we are going to realize that MG was horribly under appreciated.
