I wrote him off a while ago....After Miller went to Arizona, and MIZZOU went to the Elite 8, I seriously doubted our chances. GREAT job Coach!!!! Let's turn this thing around!

My homeboy from UofA was blowing up my cell phone while I was inspecting this 9,000 sq ft McMansion this morning... After seeing his text, I had to call. It made my day way better considering temperatures crossed the century mark in Phoenix today!

Now from Missouri:

Report: Famous headed to South Florida

By Steve Walentik

Posted April 20, 2009 at 12:57 p.m.

The Missouri basketball team appears to have lost out on its top recruiting target. Rivals.com reported that Jarrid Famous, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound center from Westchester Community Collge, made a verbal commitment to play for South Florida, spurning offers from the Tigers, Arizona, Seton Hall and Pittsburgh, among others.

"Famous decided to go with what his mind told him, not with what his heart said when he made his collegiate decision," said Westchester Community College coach Tyrone Mushatt. "Jarrid just committed to South Florida," said Mushatt.

Attempts by the Tribune to reach Famous directly were not successful, but Mushatt told Rivals.com: "Jarrid came to his final decision and he went with what his mind said he didn't go with his heart. Jarrid has family in Florida and he feels comfortable there. He especially likes the coaching staff at South Florida. They made him feel at home."

Famous spent the weekend visiting Arizona and there was significant speculation that his decision would come down to a choice between the Wildcats and Tigers. New Arizona Coach Sean Miller and his staff had been recruiting Famous during their time at Xavier. Missouri Coach Mike Anderson and his staff had also long been in pursuit of the junior college standout, who averaged 25.2 points and 13.7 rebounds last season. He visited Columbia on March 4 and watched the Tigers knock off Oklahoma in front of a packed house.

The Tigers, who have a need in the frontcourt after saying goodbye to seniors DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons, seemed an even more attractive option for the big man after making a run to the Elite Eight. "That definitely bumped them to the top of the list in my estimation," Mushatt told Rivals.com in late March.

Gotta love how the Missouri side is spinning this like Jarrid's heart is not in this decision to play for South Florida. This guy is all about heart and aggression. Watch as he plays his tail off for us his 2 seasons here.

The folks at Mizzou are just in shock that a guy with his talent would choose to play in Tampa instead of Columbia. As DarrMack told them on youtube, Jarrid said he wanted to wear shorts while holding a fine woman, not wear a raincoat while holding an umbrella. What's so hard about understanding that?

"Missouri"didn't say that, Famous' JC coach did. And it obviously wasn't a slight.

This is great news. I hope we get 2 full years out of him.

But do we have ink on paper yet?

Verbal commitments can be so easily withdrawn, and if he's that good, folks will still be trying to get him to change his commitment

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
