Not only interviewing at another school, but for a lower position.  Not even a lateral move.

Sounds like USF is starting a new trend. Rod Smith left to be West Virginia's QB coach and now Gregory. Pretty soon our position coaches will be interviewing to be a big schools' water boy.

Unfortunately, coaches leaving USF to go to other schools for a better salary will always be a problem for USF until the money is there.  In regards to Leavitt, he should start looking for a new Offensive Coordinator.  If he demotes Gregory and promotes Canales than the situation has not changed at all. Canales has been a "potential candidate" at others schools since he returned to USF. If he keeps Gregory then there will be a awkward and potentially toxic situation between the coaches which could impact the players.

Leavitt should take a salary cut in order to increase the OC Salary of about 40K to increase the OC salary to 200K + bonuses. Then go out and find a good young OC that will be willing to stay at least 4 years.

I know what your sayin but Leavitts salary is completely independent of his assistants salary, like every school.  CJL has to work within an assistant salary pool. The highest paid are DC and OC from that pool.  Very soon the assistant pool will be raised dramatically.  But he has to win the Big East before that happens.

CJL was right, It all does make sense now.

Canales will be our new OC and I'm ok with that.  He was a very good OC in our early years.  I expect him to elevate our play next year.

Now we know for sure that Canales will be the OC.

I would think 99.9% ... didn't Chico recruit Daniels ?

Really think we'll know by Friday now.

Chico to OC/QB Coach and then bring in somebody to be WR/TE Coach ?

Chico get a raise to about $175K as Leavitt's Asst Pool goes up $100K this season.

Maybe its just me, but it seems everyone's kinda blowing this up a little.  CJL told Gregory that he might be making a change after the recruiting season.....it would be stupid for Gregory not to sniff around for other opportunities if he knows he might be canned in a few weeks.

Leavitt needs to nip this today.  His reputation as a strong leader of the team and staff might otherwise take a hit.

Did Chico not once leave for greener pastures?  Seems to be the trend.
