I remember when Mike Canales was just as big a punching bag at this forum as Greg Gregory is now. And Rod Smith, come to think of it.

While I think CJL needs to do some housecleaning, Canales is one I would keep around.  Even with their poor play against Cincy, I think the receivers have made improvement from a year ago.

canales is a good coach, but we need a better QB coach. gregory belongs at another school.  we need someone who's had experience with dual-threat QB's.

Canales is one of the few prominent assistants I'd be okay keeping this offseason along with Wally and a few others.

That said, I wouldn't be sad if we lost all of them, so if he leaves, good for him. Hopefully we'll replace him with someone better.

Id prefer he stays as well, and Im betting he will if he becomes OC.

But, I think we need to raid the Gators coaching staff. Love em or hate em, they churn out a team every year.

Unless there are major changes in the budget we can't afford to do that.

We better keep him. Tremendous recruiter.

i don't mind Chico.

our receivers could be better--- still too many drops, running wrong routes, and not enough YAC yards/inability to make moves after the catch...

but then again, our QB could also be better--- stop staring down his primary receiver, better checkdowns, stop throwing at the receiver's feet, weak arm...

i did, however, see an improvement in our receivers early in the season as compared to last year.  AJ, Dontavia, TJ, Jesse and Ced had some good plays during our first 5 games.

at this point there is plenty of blame to go around, but it's difficult to tell whether the entire coaching staff is failing, or whether the failures of a few coaches [e.g. Gregory] and players [Grothe, OL] are simply trickling down and affecting our entire team.
