If Gator Bowl officials show up Saturday then the possibility is there.  Winning out will make it a probablility.  I think we can get 12-14K Bulls fans to the Gator.  Hopefully its more.

There is no guarantee that if we win out we will end up in the top 20.

I don't think the Gator Bowl committee could use "they won't travel well" to not select us.  It's within the state, I bet we would sell out our allotment.  If the game was in Texas, then maybe you can say that RU or some other B.E. team would travel better than us, but as far as FL goes I don't think they would be too concerned about us traveling.

I would hope that USF could get at least 15k to 20k to the Gator Bowl since it is not that far. Also, it will be USF's biggest bowl game to date if we do get selected. Now, correct me if I am wrong. Isnt that GATOR/SUN bowl deal calling for the SUN Bowl getting the BIG EAST team during the  next two years? I remember the deal when both bowls agreed to a 4 year deal with the BIG EAST in that they must select a BIG EAST team twice in four years in which the Gator has already done that with selecting UL and WVU. I believe the SUN Bowl will have to select the BIG EAST team this season while the Gator will select the BIG 12. Now, maybe both bowls can change that deal, but I am not sure if the BIG 12 would go for that.

Doug

Actually the Sun Bowl is a smaller stadium than the gator Bowl and they have very good local support so bringing large numbers of fans is not as important to them. The Pac10 team will bring most of their fans.

The Sun Bowl will require USF or any other BE team to sell less tickets than Meineke and Gator that depend more on fans from playing schools.

So our chances are higher in Sun Bowl if we win out and are ranked higher than UC and UConn

USF: What are the chances of a committee like you and a team like USF... ending up together?

GB Committee: Well, that's pretty difficult to say.

USF : Hit me with it! We've come a long way this season. The least you can do is level with us. What are our chances?

GB Committee: Not good.

USF : You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?

GB Committee: I'd say more like one out of a million.

USF: So you're telling me there's a chance!

Well, the chances are better than 1 in a million... They have 5 Big 12 teams and 4 Big East teams from which to chose... 1 in 9, at worst.

The chances are like Jim said that the Big12 looks like they will have TWO BCS teams so the Gator would choose 5th place team. Right now thats

Texas Tech 7-4 playing Oklahoma. They lose thats a 7-5 team

Texas AM 6-5 playing Texas. They could be 6-6.

So would they gamble on Texas Tech at 7-5 over a 9-3 Big East team? Certaintly we would bring the largest number of fans to their Bowls out of the choices of UConn and Cincy

Well, Flip noted the Gator Bowl could take a Big 12 team now with the chance a "better" Big East or Big 12 team (or Notre Dame) in the next two years.  Heck, if they take a Big East team again, and things don't change next year, they could be forced to take the 7-5 Big 12 team.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
