The other Freshman is running the ball better than william and ford.

With Ford running tough in the middle it helps open up the outside.  It's been pretty good playing calling to set up other plays so far.  Good use of play action faking.  Even a true draw once for nice yardage.  Ford definitely runs better on quick hitting called runs.  On the read options, the plays take too long to develop.  The only one that runs effectively on the read option is Grothe.

the problem is our offensive philosphy:  it is a run option, which means matt has the OPTION of giving it to ford or not.  good to see that matt has confidence in his running abilities, but he needs to learn that he HAS to give the ball to the RB's more in order for everything to work.

Don't give up on that yet.  Grothe-Sophomore, Mitchell- freshman, amuels contributed today- freshman.  Hester-Soph, Yaylor-freshman.

i know it's Syracuse...  but Ford has really shown himself to be a guy that can get 4 or 5 yards consistently.

it really helps to have a back that can get us into 2nd and 6 or 3rd and 2 type situations instead of the BS that we've been getting with short gains or losses on 1st and 2nd putting us in 3rd and long situations.

I just love how Ford doesn't go down for losses. Even on blown up plays, he's getting at least back to the LOS
