I seriously doubt this is a long term tradition.  This smells more like a single season thing, if that.  Think of the octopi thrown on the ice during the Red Wings Stanley Cup run several years ago.  It was fun for a while, but pretty well died after that Stanley Cup season (I think).

Ok, so maybe the octopus throw is an ongoing tradition, how about the Bucs "Pound The Rock"?

Probably a better example would have been the plastic rats thrown on the ice at Florida Panthers games during one season ...

and War Flamingo is hilarious... and if it becomes a kind of tongue in cheek tradition, I see no problem at all with that.

The War Beagle flies into RayJay.....  circling the cheering crowd.  Landing at the 50, he proceeds to run to opponent's mascot and lifts it's leg in a fitting salute.

ROFLMAO

I love the Beagle and the Flamingo.  I say let them battle for the right to be our 2nd mascot/war chant
