Anyone watching tonight to see his possible 10 minutes of play?

Word is that he has sold 300,000 jersey's thus far... those come about $75 pop... $22,500,000 in jersey sales.

Is this good or bad for MLS?

I've never seen so much hype for soccer in America.

I would imagine this probably pales in comparison to Pele playing in NYC.  And that didn't do squat for American soccer.

Exactly. I'm a pretty big soccer fan but am not really embracing this whole Beckham thing. I think it's because he's getting so much press, it's annoying.

I'll probably watch tonight but I'm not expecting much

1-0... i was expecting a blow out in favor of Chelsea. Lots of excitement/hype for this game. Could you imagine had he scored a goal tonight? That place would have gone nuts.

The Beckham press is getting slightly annoying. But, then again, that is what MLS was looking for when they brought him. I think at the end of the day Beckham will do a lot for American soccer (attention and money).

Agreed.... except in the case of hockey. I don't even think MLS is trying to be as huge as NFL or baseball.

Here is Bill Plaschke's article on the game last night. For those of you who watch Around the Horn on ESPN, you might be quite surprised.
