You shouldve cancelled YEARS ago....

The Tribune is far and away the 2nd best option, and I'm not just talking about USF coverage either. USF coverage is awful, but when it comes to the other sports, the Times is still far and away a better read(and presentation).

Oy, I'm torn between being slightly offended and totally not caring.

This is the media we're talking about.  The media is good for one thing, and that's using it.  I usually use it to kill time, if that.  Surely, some editor's opinions on what's important in papers I don't read are pretty low on my priority list.

USF has managed some publicity lately.  If this weren't the case, I wouldn't see 2x the students walking around in USF gear that I saw when I came here.

Do we only judge papers by whether they root, root, root for the home team? Get serious. This just in: That's not their job. It's not either paper's job to promote, cheer, or otherwise fawn. That's what web sites are for. :)

Think what you want, but no one is more wired in to USF than Brett, and the Trib provides much more coverage than the Times. Always has.  Greg does OK, but where are the other stories and columns?

In regards to the St Pete Times? Yes.

Remember, St Pete Times is paying USF Athletics $$$$$$$$$ to be the official newspaper of USF Athletics.

One way to keep said contract when current one expires is to continue to offer very favorable coverage. (i.e. somewhat "rooting").

So in this case...the answer is yes.

With all respect, that's naive.

That agreement is a marketing ploy, done by marketing people. It has nothing to do with news coverage - pro or con.

Ok...can you name the last negative story that the St Pete Times ran on USF Athletics?
