A dining hall.

Al Keck just did an interview on his show with Coach. Keck asked him about all the rumors of him leaving, and the answer he got was vintage Leavitt: paraphrasing, "...all I'm trying to do is get a dining hall. i've been askin for it for a long time now...."  ;D

Let the negotiations begin.

Becoming a successful BCS program reminds me of towns legalizing gambling.  At first, the town has all the control.

-You can only operate during these hours.

-Only these types of games.

-It is restricted to only these areas.

Once the town is in and invested in the infrastructure to support the gambleing, the power goes to the casinos.

-We can't make a profit, so either we expand our hours or leave.

-We really need (game of choice) to make it work or we have to leave.

- We need to expand to other parts of the City or we leave.

The poor town has invested so much in their new gambling industry they have to agree.  So it is with successful coaches and Universities.

I love it.  Capitalism at work.  Friedman would be proud!

I doubt Leavitt made that sort of remark to negotiate.  Instead to show the kind of focus he has on the program he has built.  The dining hall is nothing new, the discussion of a dining hall dates way back.  It is not a negotiating tool at all.

Nope, in fact I've heard he's rather close to raising all the funds necessary to build it.  It would be added onto the facility, a dining and nutritional center with a full-service dining hall and staff to go with more training area.  He's wanted this for a while, once he gets it with all the new practice fields and new artificial practice field he should be plenty happy with what he's got to work with.

IMO, we also need to get him an enclosed practice facility with supersonic air conditioners to make practicing in the cold a reality.

The WVU game was at noon, sunny, almost 60 degrees.  Had it been @ 7pm, doubt we win.

True... we don't play well in "conditions"

Two examples:

Miami - rained

Kansas/UofL - very cold

SO WE NEED A RAIN MACHINE AND A SNOW MAKER!

What is wrong with using his being considered for high profile jobs as a Bully-Pulpit to get some things done?  I did not say it as a negative, to the contrary I think it is a shrewd move to throw that out there at this time.  I actually have a little more respect for CJL since reading that.  He is playing in a game of big business, he should use every oppportunity to better his program and USF's facilities.

By the way, I thought you would like the Friedman comment.  "Capitalism and Freedom" should be required reading in all middle schools.  Gotta get em while their young!  "Give me a child to educate until they are 7 and you can have them the rest of thier life." - Francis Xaviar.

He actually mentions the dining hall all the time. It seems everytime I have turned it on his radio show, he mentions getting the dining hall built within 5 minutes. So its not really a new thing or a negotiating ploy he just opened.

I think he may also be talking to BULL nation to keep donating.

Larger donations for season tix can be paid quarterly!
