the game on the 23rd is going to hard for people with kids to go to

The date is pretty much knocking me out of going but I like the idea of buying tickets anyway if it will help the program. I wonder if someone in admin would chime in and give any pros and cons of buying tickets you aren't going to use ..... Donate to students possibly?

I think what he's saying is just buy a ticket even if you don't plan on going to the game.  Just buy the ticket to bring the USF total up to a larger number thus giving the Bulls more bowl options in the future.

They already have better bowl options....Win The BIG EAST.

As for buying a ticket and not going...I'd rather put some presents under some less fortunate children's tree...or a turkey and the trimming on their table.

Not so for me... My wife and kids (13 and 9) plan on leaving around 5am on 22nd and leaving after game on the 23rd, if we can get back that day fine if not we will stay somewhere on 23rd... I view these trips (bowl games) as something my family plan on each year.. Hotel $150,  Tickets for 4 $120, food (we will pack picnic for drive up and free breakfast on 23rd) $75 Gas $100... A quick trip for around $400, a bowl game will never be this easy!

How would I increase sales... ADVERTISE, where do you have to ADVERTISE? USF Basketball games... Internet..... Radio.... TV.....  Inform the people....  This bowl pays out 1 million? USE THAT MONEY TO MOVE THE MASSES!!!

I wonder what the University's opinion on this is? Good idea?

Thoughtful....charitable?  What value (other than souvenir)

does the purchase-but-no-show of a ticket accomplish?

Thang is...it is a Chamber of Commerce moment. They want folks

to spend a long weekend (at minimum) in their locale and drop a

few coins on the local establishments. Nightmare scenario is showing

up on game day and streamlining out immedately following.

It's a business thang, sportsfans.  But if you want to purchase a few

just for souvenir purposes, I'm certain the school can accomodate

that.

Lets face it mosr Bowl game dates are not going to be easy for those with kids. So either you start going to them with the kids or get ready to miss them all.

Our fan base is too young and has all kind of excuses for not going to games or Bowls. I remember seeing Nebraska and other fans bringing their whole families in wiinebagos to the OB game and driving a hell of a lot more than 600 miles.

That's true.

The joke from some businesses in New Orleans during several FSU Sugar Bowl Games (since Tally is only 5.5 hours away) is that FSU fans would show up in the Big Easy with a $20 bill...buy a T-Shirt and still return home with CHANGE left over from their $20 spot!

That's why Clemson years ago had all their fans use $2 bills when they travel so businesses will KNOW that all those $$$$ spent in businesses/restaurants/shops/malls, etc...were by Clemson fans.

It worked in Orlando...as the Tigers got several return trips to Orlando, with many businesses pushing hard for them.

Sure but they were driving to sunny Miami, Florida for a Jan 2  Orange Bowl game to see their team play for the National Championship not to Bumfook, Alabama to see their team play some C-DOA team on Christmas Eve, eve.

Volumes of truth in that statement...remember the game on Halloween night?

You'd have thought we were calling for mass executions.

Gotta remember, though...this board, vocal as it may be, represents a minority of

Bulls fans. Probably a good statistical sample, skewed toward the fanatic, but you

are right about the excuses (or valid reasons, whichever you prefer) not to attend.

Bumfook, Alabama to see their team play some C-DOA team on Christmas Eve, eve.

It is what it is... 8-)

Our fan base is way too small to fill the number of seats bowl organizers want to see occupied.

16,000 season tickets just doesn't compute into great bowl game attendance.
