We were never Div II, we were Div 1-AA.  Smazza is correct, we have made progress but it has plateaued over the past 2 or 3 years.  Recruiting needs to improve.  

We will know for sure if we have progressed by the results of this season.

I think that the first steps were more easily recognized.  Who could forget their kids first step, but who recognizes when they shave 50% off the time it takes them to get from the kitchen to the living room? The first steps were larger but easier too. We had a size advantage over the I-AA schools. Speed and talent gaps over them too.

Now we are playing from behind and trying to shave off .10 off our forty time. Its hard and harder to recognize progress even when your making good strides. They are good but not the leaps we took in the beginning.

USF will get there in due time. Be patient, we are only a super recruit or two from taking a GIANT LEAP onto the national stage and gaining momentum that will erase all this regression talk.

Couldn't have nothing to do about the fact over the past 3 year's we've jumped into two conferences.  Nahhh, increased competition level has  nothing to do with performance....makes to much sense.

Two CFN Tuesday Questions in a row.  It sounds like people are starting to figure out what everyone in Tampa has seen coming for the last 10 years.  

USF past success (and potential future success) is a combination of location (the most fertile recruiting ground in America) and making the right moves (see Jim Leavitt and the USF administration).  

UCF fans should be irrate at how their administration has crapped away all of the program's progress for the last 25 years.  Now they're stuck in a dead conference, with an overrated, overpayed coach.  They pretty much fell asleep at the wheel, leaving the door wide open for us.  The only question left is which team will overtake them next, FIU or FAU?    

USF is a budding big-time program, in Florida, in a REAL CITY (a real advantage over UF and FSU).  Gainesville and Tallahassee absolutely suck when you get off campus.  Can you say redneck-ville USA?    

USF will be one of the top 2 teams in Florida within the next 5 years.  Do you think FSU will keep doing good when Bowden finally puts his second foot in the grave?  UF has performed "below expectations" since Spurrier left... tell me Urban Meyer isn't under the gun at all times.  

It's only a matter of time and continuing to make the right moves forward.
