It may not be my exact dollar that buys him extra guac but it’s the same idea as saying my taxes pay some public official’s salary. I’m sure at some point he’ll buy Chipotle and it may or may not come from the money I gave him to play at USF. Beyond that, I think the purity of college athletics was identified because the players played for their ego, their team, their fans, their school. Now with paychecks that will continue to increase just like in the pros, they play got the paycheck. The line between the pros and high-end college athletics is blurring to the point that it’s almost no different in what drives the players. You will likely eventually get to the point of feeling the same way about college as you do the pros, that is, as long as NIL is in place.
