The Sheriff Posted February 28 Group: Member Topic Count: 721 Content Count: 6,754 Reputation: 806 Days Won: 19 Joined: 12/24/2001 Share Posted February 28 Considering BYU stunned #7 KU at the Fogg, if BYU beats TCU on Saturday, BYU is going to be ranked going into next week - no getting around it. Every ranked team has won this week (as of Wednesday morning). #24 UF has a tough matchup this weekend against #18 USC. If they win tonight against Mizzou and Saturday against USC, they're not getting bumped out. Highly unlikely that USC would drop from #18 to #26 with six losses. #23 Gonzaga has the toughest schedule this week, facing a tough unranked USF squad on the road on Thursday and then they get #17 Saint Mary's on the road on Saturday. We need USF to beat Gonzaga to ensure our place in the polls. Gonzaga wins both games, they're not moving. #21 Dayton has a tough game Friday against Loyola Chicago - maybe Loyola Chicago can get some Divine intervention to give us some help. If every other ranked teams from #20 to #24 take care of business, we're going to get bumped out unceremoniously. **** Mormons!

Personally, I’m not going to stress out about who above us or who below us wins this week or next so we can cling onto our ranking. If we just win out, we’re going to the dance, and our final rankings will be what they are. I’m sure my feelings about the season will based more on our record than our ranking. Mike Stuben Posted February 28 Group: Member Topic Count: 74 Content Count: 2,468 Reputation: 1,139 Days Won: 19 Joined: 04/08/2012 Share Posted February 28 I do think the ranking is important in a particular scenario. Lets say we win our next 4-5 games, but lose in the tournament. I think the ranking impacts the committee for at large. The other thing, I want as much national attention to USF, as it can help us with upcoming realignment. Obviously, we gotta beat Charlotte for any of this conversation to matter.

They have a tough row to hoe, but are playing to get in. Fortunately for them the USF and St. Mary’s games are opportunities. And, they’ll likely get St. Mary’s again in conf tourney. I don’t see how that can’t be a top 25 ranking imo.
