UTSA can play defense and be physical...it's not an outcome of magic or fate that off nights just happen. If were that simple and random, we wouldn't need practice.  i.e., every single hold or jersey grab disrupted timing on those perimeter patterns.

shooting 3's has a high variance. You have off nights.

UTSA ranks #352 in the country for three point shooting percentage against.

we hit 18 against them last time.

do a simple google search

We looked at the 3,600,541 total 3-pointers taken since the 2000-01 season (1,249,423 of which were made), and the research shows there is a strong correlation between 3-point success and win-loss percentage.

In fact, the two teams with the highest win percentages since the 2000-01 season also had the highest 3-point percentage since then.

The top overall is Gonzaga, which is 509-109 (.824) this century while shooting 38.2 percent from the 3-point line — both the best marks in Division I.

Right behind is Kansas, with a 536-115 (.823) record and a 38.1 percent performance from deep — both good for second place.

Gonzaga has both the highest 3-point percentage and highest win percentage this century. And that's no coincidence.

Nobody thinks we need to change our philosophy in general, but when you’re having a 4-23 night, you may want to take the ball to the basket.

we did. we outscored them in the paint 36-16 and we shot 23 free throws.

that's how you win ugly. it happens.

the reason they almost beat us was because they hit 5 more threes than us.

I must admit I didn't understand the limited minutes for walker though.

DR.

The point you’re continuously try to make is only a part of basketball.  Every team would like to hit a huge percentage of threes.  No ****.  However, no successful team only relies on 3s and just shrugs their shoulders on an off night and says “that’s gonna happen”.  It’s not random as you’d like to assume when you have an anomoly.

CAAR didnt shrug his shoulders last night, instead went into the paint.  Miguel’s three point shooting was killing us, but his drives to the basket kept the deficit small.

it's the reason we are 18-1 in our last 19.

That and defense. They're not going to stop shooting them, CAAR has as much as said so ....... so we might as well buckle up.

I'm not arguing anything.

sometimes you have to win ugly when you have an off night shooting.

doesn't mean you should stop shooting.

how many games have you seen this year where we shot awful in the first half and were on the verge of getting blown out and then we come out and shoot lights out and win?
