risky for who?

a and m has no budget and unlimited money

Budget and money don't mean you will win.  Jimbo struggled in the same scenario and he had as big a name as you can get.  It is risky for the program.  Give a poor coach or poor talent recognizer or poor talent developer and you will still lose.  The coach at Duke, in my opinion, is unproven.  He did not win big at Duke and even this season was mediocre.  A & M could have gone bigger than the Duke coach if their budget was truly unlimited.

Who fits that "bigger" tag these days?

For A&M Traylor looked like the “bigger and safer” pick, imo. At least he has won a couple conference championships. The carousel is moving so fast many coaches don’t have time to establish anything before they get booted or picked off. Sounds like A&M wanted to lockdown their guy before he became a hot commodity and someone else scooped him up. If he flops it will get ugly over there.

If they went with a lesser Power 5 team or group of 5 team I would have gone with Chadwell. Liberty is unbeaten and ranked. Did great things as well at Coastal.

He would’ve been another good pick, but can he recruit Texas? I think having connections locally is very important to them. The competition for talent in Texas seems as fierce, if not more so than the battle for talent in Florida.

I would Just pick up a bama or georgia OC or DC. Easy peasy.

If you have that deep of pockets then don’t go with a lesser power 5 coach or G5 coach. Go big or go home and see how it works. Go for teams that are sitting right now in the top 15 rankings. Any of them you think could be swayed by a huge contract. It seems that is how college football is going so why not. I’m not saying that is how it should be but when you are paying a $76 million dollar buyout then money is no object. Get who you want.
