If he’s held out better players, that may have won a game, HOPING they’ll be here next year? Probably the dumbest decision he could make.

I think the true freshmen would take a little longer to pick up the offense, but I could be wrong. Maybe he just wanted to get past Bama before rotating them in. Also wouldn't mind to see Carter line up as a wr or slot receiver for some real trick plays if he isn't getting time at qb.

1 - You're assuming they are better players.

2 - You're assuming USF would have won with them.

3 - You're assuming a player who has yet to play a down in college will somehow be attractive in the transfer portal.

I think everything is right but your third point.  We have had players transfer out that never played a down at USF (Gunnar Smith Qb) or even made it to camper (Demetrius Carter WR). I am sure there are more but they are just off my recent memory.

If any team needed wins now and not the future, i would say it's USF.  If we can show that the turnaround is happening, we can attract more recruits and transfers.
