Another look back to the good days.  Hopefully Patrick can create some tough guys. You’ll like that talk within the article.

Awesome!!  I remember those early years and that defense flying around.  I never doubted that defense and knew the play would be made when it had to be made.  The last few years if a game would require a stop or a play I would just turn off the TV and know it wasn't going to happen and I was right.  I have a feeling things are turning around.  Let's get dirty and gritty and make it happen.

Good stuff! They have hard job ahead of them in the current USF/CFB climate. Might work out that we have some guys that remember the tougher times.

It's gotten exhausting when any time we have somebody in 3rd and long, I say  (almost jokingly), "Oh man, they've got us right where they want us" and then they end up converting a 3rd and 14 because our corners are 20 yards off the line, or they run a draw up the middle and nobody is around the ball until 20 yards downfield

I feel like Patrick has been a DLine coach FOREVER. Has he never had a DC chance in his career?

Not sure if he's ever been offered a DC gig, but could just be that he enjoys coaching along the trenches. His bio page says he was a LB coach at FAU, but obviously the rest of his experience is DL-related, which is something he's done exceedingly well at in the past.

3rd & 4th downs have been our Achilles heal since the CCS days. Even when we give a good effort to stop it.  It's like we are cursed.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
