I meant a 3 -4

Agreed, it looked like we had closer to 7 defenders out there than 10, maybe the trick is to get 11 out there, wish CJS had figured this out in time.

Our defense really needs to just step up and perform around 75th or better this year and we could be .500 in the new aac. I am just confused why we keep running schemes with 5 defensive backs that have turned our defense ib5o the other team's offensive mvp. I hope to see improvements in tackling and coverage skills under the new defensive coaches.

We had no decent lineman and 15 safeties so you play with what your personnel provides.  We are the product of poor coaching, recruiting and development which forces you to play an unsuccessful scheme which leads to poor execution and the train wreck we witnessed over the past couple of years.

I agree two big boys on the front line with top ends is the best in college. I think the 3-4-4 is better in the pros where you can get 3 300lb athletic men on the line to create space for 1 or 2 outside rushers. If having 5 defensive backs didn't work for the last three years straight under two defensive coordinators, what is going to make the five defensive backs returning instantly be better? I hope we really emphasize tackling drills for the whole defense.

Hopefully the coaching? Guys last year were constantly out of position. Hopefully that changes with a new regime, but we'll have to wait until game 1 to see if that's truly the case.
