Get in the top 80 that be huge improvement.  How our season goes will come down to the defense. Not that worried about offense putting up points.

If we had an average defense this year ranking around 60ish the coaching staff would have performed a miracle and would deserve respect.

Can he actually turn the defense into to  top 75 or better defense ? If so we can go 0.500? if not then time restart the rebuild again. I expect to see major improvements this year and bowling by year 2 or we need to really consider usf's options. We passed on a proven winner for an unproven and Inexperienced  head coach.

Well, let's just hope every other fanbase is wrong about this guy.

Opinion: Whether now or at season’s end, USC must move on from Todd Orlando

UCLA’s embarrassment was just the latest episode in a disastrous season for the defensive coordinator.

 If you take the worst defense of his 17 year DC career its still 10 PPG and 100 YPG better than USF's defense last year.

 

USF under Scott: 2020 39.9 ppg, 2021 34.7 ppg, 2022 41.2 ppg

Orlando’s career as DC:

UConn 75 games; 21.9 ppg

FIU 25 games; 25.3 ppg

Utah State 28 games; 18.4 ppg

Houston 27 games; 22.0 ppg

Texas 40 games; 24.9 ppg

USC 18 games; 29.8 ppg

FAU 12 games; 26.7 ppg

Seems like other than USC he's been an above average DC

I read some of this when he was first hired, but chose to stay positive.  Talent-wise, we know what we have on defense.  It won't be pretty next season....I'm hoping for some improvements the following year.

USC and Texas have absurd expectations. It's Natty or you suck. I understand the concern but it's not a fair comparison
