CJS is gone finally he set this program back and left us in a worse place then he arrived. Time to move on from the culture of losing and promising false better days ahead. You can defend this guy all you want and spin the narrative but he was the worst USF coach and possibly FBS coach in modern FBs football.

See if you can do it

*I didn't and haven't defended the guy ... ever ....

They did promote Cadillac to interim coach, for what that's worth.  I mean, the Plains are not exactly Tuscaloosa.

Cadillac is an Auburn guy. UF made Randy Shannon its interim coach but they’ve never hired anyone of color in their school history - as football coach, basketball coach or university president.

They should have started that search behind the scenes months ago.

I have i have been stating he needs to go for over a year. I am talking about the next coach and you are trying to defend some imaginary accomplishment of Jeff Scott not setting us back.

One month, I don’t think is a long time. Anything much longer than that, IMO, is too long. He’s already had at least a month to make a short list.

USF should hire a HC from a MAC, CUSA, or Sun Belt school. Maybe a top-tier FCS program, if there's a coach that stands out. They should get a guy who's shown he can build a program up, because that's what they desperately need right now

Some things to remember.

1. Most of the targets will be currently active coaches or coordinators who have their own teams to think about for three or four more weeks.

2. The really popular choices are most certainly going to wait to see:

  • Who else gets fired in this season in the P5 and upper G5 programs.
  • Who those programs hire to replace the fired coaches, creating additional P5 and G5 openings.

USF may be aggressive, but it can't compete with P5 money and resources.
