Same.  I don't get the importance/relevancy of a passing TD in a win.  Now if we were 0-10 passes to the endzone, I'd at least think about it a few seconds.  Hasn't been a main priority of mine.

More of a morale thing/stats for receivers i would think. At some point, we have to get some guys in the endzone with the passing game.

Usually teams don't win a lot of games if they are completely one dimensional and have a higher turnover ratio in the passing game. We are 1/4 of the way through season  3 and the passing game looks lost still. The running game, the spread option, rpo/read options, using motion behind the line to create mismatches and misdirection are working.  We just need to polish up the execution on the passing game some.  I am fine with having a good run heavy offense if you can beat them with the pass when they stack the box , use play action to catch them off guard, or beat them with the deep ball If you have to. Cjs was a glorified passing game coordinator  and receivers coach  they called co-oc ( no play calls or design of offense). THE PASSING game and receivers should be his strength not weakness. Let's just hope we continue to improve the passing game because there will be a game when we will need to pass to win because of the other team's defense can shut down the run.

We could always incorporate Macdill As part of our campus and go Triple Option and never pass the ball.

I want to see over 60% passing completion.

Gerry and the receivers connecting on even a fraction of the passes that have either been overthrown or dropped will have this passing game taking a giant leap forward

I won a lot of games never committing to the three point shot....

And if we never made one it wouldn't bother me.  I don't need something to pick at.  Just win.

Discussing the passing game is different then discussing "when we are going to get a passing TD".  That discussion makes no sense to me.

Overthrows an issue? Yes  Drops an issue?  Yes.

Until those are solved, it make no difference if it happens on our 20 or theirs.  Save that one for later.

They need to utilize the 6'4/6'5 pass catchers we have on the team. And throw some high throws that allows them to use their height.

The thread is titled will the passing game move forward?

Committing to the pass instead of having a passing attack are two different things. I am fine to be a run heavy team if we don't have a high turn over to td margin passing and can move the ball in the air if we have to.

And, as usual, your first comment is different and what you argue.

As stated there is a difference in a passing game moving forward and whether or not there is a passing TD.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
