CJL wasn't fired for what happened or didn't happen in the locker room that night.  He got fired because he pressured Miller in the middle of the night to change his story.  I was told at the time by

It would be tremendous hire but would take a lot of guts and fortitude on the part of all parties. Has this ever happened in college football history before (prior head coach return as a coordinator)?

sounds like he's visiting his family, if there was any smoke here it would have been too big of a scoop not to hear about it already

SMU promoted the OC to HC yesterday instead of Leavitt who has HC experience.  Maybe he is looking to jump ship.

While he's still a vile human being, he no longer has Doug and Judy's bidding to do.  I don't even think he has his guy on the inside anymore.

Maybe now that the guys in the locker rooms are adults, maybe they can tell us about McMurphy's time with them.
