But I'm comparing the players on the dline that got playing time last year with the new additions to our dline bold: new addition to the dline italicized: returning dline player regular: dline player graduating RANKED: Clyde Pinder Jr (89.59) Jamari Stewart (86.15) Ryan Thaxton (84.97) Rashawn Yates (84.93) Eddie Kelly (84.16) James Ash (83.82) Tramel Logan (83.56) Tyrone Barber (83.10) Nick Bags (82.63) Jason Vaughn (82.50) Darrien Grant (80.86) Kevin Kegler (79.45) Kelvin Pinkney (78.18) Thad Mangum (not rated) Blake Green (not rated) At first glance it does seem the pedigree of player at the position will be improving next season. Here is the average ranking of players on the dline this year vs next year (not rated players were a 75.00 for this calculation): 2021: 80.76 (looks like the level of talent of the average player on a low 100s team in 247's total talent composite (109 NIU's avg player is 80.68, 110 Nevada's avg player is 80.54)) 2022: 84.24 (looks like the level of talent of the average player on a mid 50s team in 247's total talent composite (54 Cincy's avg player is 84.78, 55 SMU's avg player is 84.02)) So our talent at the position will go from bottom of D1 (no surprise) to around the top of the G5. If we get the results to follow we should be looking forward to a bowl game this time next year.

Our DT's really should have been depth pieces at this level of football, not on the field for every snap. Hopefully with Pinder, Ash, and Bags we can actually have some difference makers there

Excited about this DL Group for 2022. Good call. Williams is an 83.02 and Hobbs is an 82.81 so even our depth at the DT position will be better (on paper) than our starters last year. A bad dline makes everyone else on defense look worse. Could see guys like Grier/Boyles/Davis really break out when the opposing QB's don't have 6 seconds to throw every dropback
