It was a very fun evening out with the wife. Great seats and relatively large, energetic crowd. It felt like it was about evenly split between USF and Auburn fans.

We went 4 for 10 from the line. There were two times we missed a layup which led to three pointers for Auburn (10 point swing with just that). Auburn clearly won the dunk contest, but it felt like it was USF's game to lose (which, of course, they did).

I'll say this for Auburn at the end of the game... They were beyond happy that they pulled out a W. They figured out pretty fast that USF was there to win and that they (USF) honestly should have won.

The Bulls are still a little rough around the edges, but I am seeing a team that I really look forward to watching this year. 🤘

Agreed. Not sure what to make of this team yet, but Greene and Murphy have very complimentary offensive games. Very good defensive effort tonight but got caught napping on half a dozen back door cuts. Great atmosphere inside Amalie.

I believe it was requested by Auburn to get acclimated with playing at Amalie in preparation for the SEC tournament that will be held there.

Had a great time and as always the Auburn fans were super friendly and fun.  Great atmosphere which I did not expect in such a large house.  Students showed up in force and kept the energy level up.  Wish they would come in those numbers to YC.  We should consider playing a couple games per year there.  The icing on the cake was that we actually led most of the game and hung with the #21 team in the country.

GO BULLS!

Interestingly BG said in his post game presser that the goal is to play one game a year there.

I have always said we need to move to a basketball stadium off campus, tear down the YC and replace it with the OCS Football stadium. I wonder if this is in their plans?

Thank you, I have a plethora of great ideas that I would love to share with them but for some reason they show no interest.

The Oracle writer summed up the turning point well:

Quote

USF maintained its lead to begin the second half, but the Tigers turned up the pressure and showed why they are so highly regarded in the college basketball landscape, flipping the game on its head with a 15-0 run that started with 12:45 to play.

The Bulls struggled to match their opponent’s speed and tenacity, going on a 6:15 scoring drought that saw their nine-point advantage quickly evaporate and turn into a six-point deficit with 7:46 to go.

Despite not being able to finish the upset, the USF men’s basketball team battled No. 21 Auburn in a confidence-building, competitive 58-52 loss Friday night at Amalie...

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
