I totally agree that if you choose to sit out a bowl or playoff game for whatever reason, you should pay a very stiff penalty taken out of your NIL and scholarship money.  Contracts should be signed to that effect when someone commits for the next season.

Yep. You can’t have it both ways. If the team has a game, you should be obligated to play if you’re healthy.

Is USF the best school in Florida now?  According to FSU fans their roster is top heavy and full of divas.

I was under the impression that all the divas and momma’s boys went home crying cause they didn’t get their way.

What about the players that aren't playing as they are preparing for the NFL draft?  Why doesn't their draft status suffer if they don't play?  Why is that rewarded by the NFL?

Maybe the fans can individually sue the starters (NIL recipients) who sat out.  They could make the players sign a contract with a steep buy out for refusing to contribute to the team's performance.  You want unregulated NIL?  There you go.

They would simply fake injuries to avoid the fine.  I am not so sure that the bowl system has simply outlived its usefulness.  Next year with 12 teams in the playoffs the games will be even more irrelevant and the problem will exacerbate into a death spiral IMO.

That's what happened. I agree with what Kirby said though about something has to change with all the players sitting out and still getting paid dollars from nil. I also agree with Lane the portal shouldn't open until after bowl season.

Bowl games are great, so that would be sad.

I was actually thinking.  I would be wanting signed agreements solidifying opt outs before signing a team.  From a bowl perspective...

They just wasted all that effort and money.

They should probably ban them. Also the ACC should kick FSU out. FSU needs to be held accountable!!!!

bowls with the exception of the playoffs are glorified scrimmages.

don't blame players that want to go to nfl for opting out.

simple fix for transfer players. open the window after the bowls. what did they think was going to happen when the window closes jan 2

oh and as far as nil money is concerned just hold some back and give them a bowl bonus.

The organizers of the bowl game should sue them.

the same old guys that have made millions and millions for years without anything going to the players.....

laughable that people want to fine them or penalize them. how about you give the players that play in the game a bonus??

financial incentives go a long way in motivating people. just ask anyone that collects a pay check

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
