But the dream scenario was always adding existing P5 teams from the PAC to further solidify the Big 12 within the P conferences. They got the 4 corners like they'd hoped so UConn wasn't needed anymore.

The four corners schools add inventory and markets and that's beneficial to the B12.  But are they brands?  I don't know.  Utah did win the PAC recently.  Arizona has BB.  And Prime at Colorado is sensational.  Not sure they're saviors though.

How would that work?  Isn't FOX a media partner of the B12 (and not of the ACC)? Aren't there GOR complications?  Hmm.

So what's the thinking...that the creme de la ACC & Big XII merge and the flotsam from said merger is where U of SF would land? Is that about right?

If that happens then this is the most plausible result, we will team up with what has been jettisoned and be in the P4 or G7 if they go P3.

Nope. Because the cream of the ACC: FSU,Clemson UNC aren’t looking to join Big12 it’s BigTen or SEC for them. That merge solves nothing for them other than losing one guaranteed CFP spot.

If some form off Big12 and ACC merge then OSU\WSU\MWC and AAC would surely have to do the same?

To be clear, the crème de la ACC (being - at minimum Heels & Noles) depart the ACC for greener pastures (regardless of terminus) leaving the remainder of the conference to be a watered-down rendition of the ACC; which, in turn, would be attractive to the Big XII. Assuming the 'second tier' ACC teams are absorbed into the Big XII, whatever carcass remains of the ACC is where U of SF would land.

How many have to leave before there's an AAC/ACC merger?

Well that's not exciting.
