I call "Blarney" on this.

If it happened then the AAC would also be blown up as the SEC, B1G and ACC expand to 16 and the remains of the Big 12 and the AAC try to piece together a new conference.

There's a lot of talk that the AAC is already negotiating with MTSU to become a member after the conference is raided. If we don't get into the Big 12 it's pretty much C-USA time again especially if three teams are poached.

Some recent reports have suggested that the decision won't actually be made before season starts, in part because of network push back, but who knows...

The way I understand it is a full year is needed for scheduling changes.  If the B12 waits until the season is started, there is no possible way any team can join for 2017 season.

So in rumored Pac-12/Big XII merger, 6 teams get demoted?  Would suck for those "inferior" teams...

Just like it sucked for the demoted Big East teams.

Some would get picked up by other P5 conferences.  But I think those other conferences would look elsewhere as opposed to school like Indiana and Iowa.

I guess misery loves company because I would LOVE to see some P5 teams get demoted after looking down on everyone else all this time.

Think about this.

Cincinnati and WVU to the ACC.

UConn and Kansas to the B1G.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas Tech to the PAC.

TCU and Kansas State to the SEC.

That leaves only Iowa State and Baylor which is toxic right now.

The American could refuse to expand with those schools and still gain a step up in the pecking order. The AAC could expand with 4 western schools and truly become the next Power Five Conference.

If this were to happen, we'd have a new home in the ACC, which would be even better than the Big 12.

Absolutely.  The bigger the problem, the more schools are in our boat, the more we have angry college presidents demanding a Congressional fix.  I'm all for chaos right now.
