So the real question appears to be, do they expand to 12 or 14? After lots of reading the past couple of days, Im not so sure I like our chances if they go to 12. At 14 I am more confident.

If the Big12 takes Cincy, Houston, BYU, wouldn't a UCF or USF as the 4th school still be much better addition than Memphis?

I really dont don't get the logic of adding Memphis as the 4th school because even if there isn't room for two FL schools, I think just one alone is better than Memphis. Match up the merits of UCF vs Memphis or USF vs Memphis individually and it seems like Memphis would not be better than either one.

I wont be surprised at all if the Big12 takes only 1 of UCF or USF if we are 4 or 5 on individual merits.

Also Houstom doesn't bring anything new but makes the state of Texas into an even larger voting block in the conference, and adds nothing for the networks or the other schools.

I vote we blow it all up and make the All Florida Conference.  All games would be sold out.   All the best player come from Florida anyways. :)

Because of the apparent push back by the networks, I don't think anything is clear or decided at this point.  While early reports suggested a decision would be made before the season starts, I suspect that timeline assumed the networks would generally be on board.  It seems, however, that almost every day an "insider" article gets published that suggests the networks are or are not on board to varying degrees.

But if they're not fully on board, I think it's more likely the Big XII pushes off any decisions until late in the season or even until after the season ends.  To the extent this gives USF more time to shine (recognizing that a good season this year can only benefit USF although it would not be a deciding factor), a delay could only help our cause.

Ultimately, I want whatever is best for USF long-term.  While the short-term money and P5 status would be great, and USF should accept any invite, if it doesn't get an invite I don't think it's the end of the world. Competition in the Big XII is stiff and USF could essentially become another Iowa State.  Also, the Big XII could implode.  On the other hand, regularly winning the AAC and competing for access bowls/CFB playoffs for a decade or two could re-brand USF as a winning program like Boise State, and position us nicely for future opportunities.

and then picked to win the division, return most of a pretty good team with what should be improved line play, 2nd year playing the same system for the 1st time in 4 years, more depth than ever before, more experience across the board...

The only thing against the BULLS making an access bowl, IMO, is the preseason ranking. Our preseason ranking in 2007, composite - 26, this year - mid 60's.

Like a meaningless bowl game is a predictor for the following season. There may be rational arguments for not getting to the playoffs or access bowl but that ain't one of them.

no way we get in as the 11 or 12. Less than 10% chance we get in as 13-14.

"Meaningless" because we lost.  If we would have won it would be all about our consecutive winning streak and momentum.

BYU - big scandal brewing, would be on an island, cant play on sundays

Cinci - pretty sure they will get an invite

Memphis - crap academics, mostly terrible athletics until recently, city is a dump

UConn - would be another island, basketball is great but only kansas cares about that

Houston - do the rest of the non tx schools really want to add another tx school?

UCF - hate them, but i think we are best sold as a package deal

Meaningless because there are only 3 meaningful bowl games right now. If we had won, it still wouldn't have been a predictor for making the playoffs or access bowls but do agree it would been more about winning streak and momentum.
