Good: defense, specifically LB and safeties. Grier had a crazy stat line and the safeties were making plays against the option and in the secondary.

Bad: pressure from DL

Ugly: Passing game

I’ll edit this and say the passing game wasn’t ugly, it was just pretty quiet. Like a Prius: quiet and efficient.

Good: defense had energy and stopped the run very well, secondary showed up mostly when needed, the RB backfield is dangerous, and we have WR's that can catch the ball

Bad: McCloud's vision in the pocket when it collapses (credit due for the first TD throw)

Ugly: the kicker.

The good: Defensively we were disciplined for the most part. RBs were good and show a lot of depth.

The mediocre: QB play was efficient 18 -25 1TD no interceptions McCloud QB rating 125.1, Johnson 125.4. No long passes. Not sure if that is because of the pieced together offensive line, passing philosophy, or lack of ability.

The bad: Usf does not have a backup kicker. The punter was doing the place kicking.

The ugly: ESPN coverage was bad. Not sure if the commentary was watching the same game I was. First down line was off noticeably, once it was slanted, a second time it was moving. "Crowd noise" was delayed and not matching the play on the field. Seriously, no crowd reaction after a USF touchdown? Makes me wonder if the first down marker person was also responsible for crowd noise and how much they had to drink with dinner.

The Good - overall high energy on both sides of the ball with players in position to make splash plays (yes - the punt in the end zone was a gift, but Dollison caught the ball on the fly and stayed in-bounds, which was probably not easy)

The Bad - the overall stat line is similar to last seasons game against SC State, so overall improvement is still up in the air in my mind

The Ugly - as others noted, the ESPN broadcast was horrendous (late start, announcers not knowing who was playing, limited replays, inane commentary)

USF does have a backup kicker...he was out this game though...

Speaking of, Dollison looked great on that jet sweep.

Dollison looked really good overall...he looks like that he may have been a steal...

Good: We’re playing football.

Bad: We’re in for it at ND unless something drastically changes

Ugly: Offense needs a lot of work.

Are we, dare I say,

good?

Last night was pretty uplifting. This might not be a total rebuild after all.

The good:  our running game is dangerous.  The defense appears to be further along then most of expected... Vincet Davis in the Hybrid db/lb position (rebirth of the shark positon) was a great call by the staff

The bad: McIndecision (looking forward to seeing more snaps from Noah)

The ugly: the broadcast was a s÷=× show
