First of all good job and I agree with most of your selections.  Where I disagree: You really think Joiner over Felix?   JOhnson over Fortin?  Dont forget Xavier Weaver and Latrell Williams at WR, I know we have not heard much because of closed practices.

I feel Joiner is going to EXPLODE this year. As for Johnson and Fortin, I'm good with either, but I feel Johnson just has so much more experience. Also Devontres Dukes has been our least utilized weapon. I read somewhere that he is having a good camp and he has the height the CJS likes.

Coach called to ask if I could suit up for QB this Saturday but the new kickoff time won't work. Online yogurt making class.

Sanders and Robert's were exposed a lot last year. I hope they improve or we have guys ready to step up. That is why I did not pegthem as starters. The team was a trainwreck for the last two years so there is a chance they play motivated and improve.

I agree about the safeties. Sanders and Roberts are experienced, but I wouldn’t call them good. They’re both too small at this level.

My comment at safety isnt a knock on Roberts. I think hes actually one of our better players, certainly better than our Dline or LBs outside of Boyles. I can agree with Sanders being small though, he just cant tackle.

My point about the safeties is that it isn't certain who will start there. We have guys like Burnett, Davis, Sanders, Roberts, and Lapointe. I'm probably missing a few names here but those positions are up for grabs, as is most of the defense.

The only locked positions on defense to me are Sails, Hampton and Boyles.

We need a hungry defense like in the CJL. Hungry legs feed the wolf.

To me, safeties have to be able to be good in run support (especially when you're only using two linebackers like we have much of the time they've been here). Neither Roberts nor Sanders have been. I don't think they're afraid to be physical. I just don't think they're big enough to make a difference. I like those big safeties who can bring the wood when they have to. Our defense - in general - has gotten smaller over the years. We used to have bigger linebackers, safeties, even linemen during the formative years and those guys could still run.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
