So the guaranteed magic only lasts two years?

Ughh...you have totally lost me. He was a head coach that was hired by another university. Yes, these coaches get fired all the time. This has nothing to do with being an OC and getting fired.

Hire no coordinators ever, promote them straight to head coach from grad assistant

Coaches get fired all of the time. I would say he is most famous for being an OC coach at Clemson and then blowing it at Arkansas. There is no magic pool that you should always pull from or else everyone would be doing that rout. Even that doughy kid from UCF is starting to not look like a home run pick people were clamoring for as an example of how if you get a young offensive coordinator you are guaranteed success.

That statement applies to every person at every position

I have no issue with hiring coordinators either offensive or defensive or hiring other head coaches or even hiring a head coach that may not currently be gainfully employed, I also recognize that being dogmatic about one type or thinking it’s a guaranteed path to success is idealistic and silly at best.

Except that for 6 months people on here have been saying all you have to do is hire a young successful oc and you are guaranteed head coaching success

Obviously not true since I think even hiring coaches from DII is beneath us

I don’t think anyone on here has said it’s a “guarantee” to success. Remember this is USF football there are no guarantees.

Well I most certainly want an OC versus a retread coach but I know it’s not a guarantee to success
