As it becomes pretty clear that CCS and the gang look to be staying have we reached the acceptance stage yet?

Anyone hanging onto denial and anger?

Not sure we have much bargaining.

When you recognize that the buyout is for actual money and not the jam of the month club we were led to believe and that we are now in the AAC which means we have none of that money stuff, you are left with little choice but to accept that which we cannot control.

This is really true for everyone, all the time.

No one likes accepting things are beyond their control.

Ya. The dashed cheap buyout hope really hurt but once the reports came out it was likely an expensive buy out pretty much sealed it. You know USF will choose to pay him to coach poorly even if it is the wrong long term choice rather than pay him not to coach even if that would be the better long term outcome.

I think it would be best to assume that the buyout for the rest CCS contract is the rest of his contract, or $7.8 million.

$2.5 million for 2019

$2.6 million for 2020

$2.7 million for 2021

After we go 4-8 the next two seasons. We will then fire CCS after the 2020 season and will say the wording of the Buyout is vague and offer to settle the buyout for just over $1 million.

I think that spells out what we are actually looking at.

Yep. Since it was one of the strongest arguments for earlier than typical action it makes you wonder why someone with knowledge didn’t come forward with it before it grew into a frenzy. It’s kind of hard to put the genie back into the bottle.

Maybe we were hardline negotiators and it’s only for 80% of the remaining salary, I’m just kidding you know we are on the hook for the full thing.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
