I never said that, thanks. But to save my breath and say that every school controls their own schedule. If you a G5 and you want to make the playoff, schedule all of your non conference games against P5 schools. Stop asking for hand outs and take control of your own life. If we played Clemson, Alabama, OSU and we win those games, they couldn't keep us out of the CFP. Everyone has a chance, schedule big games and win them and your in. Period!!

You must not know how scheduling works if you think a G5 team can just schedule Clemson, Bama, and OSU just like that.

The NCAA is a for profit entity, which makes it a business, which makes them a company.

The NCAA is a nonprofit organization.  The NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL are for profit and they figured out a playoff system that allows everyone of their teams a shot at winning a championship.

Regular season didn't mean much last year because the 3rd place team in the sec got in

Oh you didn't know that USF can schedule those guys any time they want?

But my question is, why is it the problem? Just because our school or conference doesn't have a seat at the CFP dinner table, doesn't mean we deserve one.

^^^Yes you did say exactly that, thanks.

Then again you also said that the NCAA is a for profit organization.

You also seem to think that programs like USF can just pick and choose whoever we want to schedule.  As if P5 schools are just waiting for USF's call to schedule them.   As if, because of the split between G5 and P5, playing programs like USF benefits them any where close to the degree that it potentially harms them.

You appear to be as incapable of being logical and fair-minded as the very system you are trying to defend so I see no point in continuing the conversation.  There is obviously no persuading you despite logic and facts.  Maybe you've been brainwashed like many of the P5 fans.  Its just strange to hear this coming from a USF fan who's program is being damaged and marginalized at the hands of people who could care less whether or not your favorite team even existed.  .

Ok, my last post on this:

- the purpose of the CFP is to ensure that the best TWO teams are in the 4 team CFP; which it does that.

- the NCAA tries to make as much money as possible, therefore it has a bias to big money programs getting into the two other spots.

- If a G5 school wants to get in, it has to leave no doubt to the CFP committee and the public media. They can do it by scheduling the toughest they CAN get.

- Unlike basketball, upsets and cinderellas are much more rare, so the CFP will side with the traditional powers when there is doubt. Therefore G5's have to send a clear message with beating multiple P5 teams.

And that's the last I'm saying about this.

- the NCAA tries to make as much money as possible, therefore it has a bias to big money programs getting into the two other spots. NCAA doesn't run the playoff. P5 conferences are making a killing.  NCAA President offered an 8 team playoff plan in 2016 that would include all P5 conference champions

- If a G5 school wants to get in, it has to leave no doubt to the CFP committee and the public media. They can do it by scheduling the toughest they CAN get.  Impossible and many P5 teams have virtually no chance either (see Colorado being eliminated by ESPN's system while still undefeated).

- Unlike basketball, upsets and cinderellas are much more rare, so the CFP will side with the traditional powers when there is doubt. Therefore G5's have to send a clear message with beating multiple P5 teams.  Speculative.  There are many upsets in college football

And that's the last I'm saying about this.  We hope, probably a few posts too late.

Yeah, it doesn't look any better when you place it in this format in one post.  An 8 team playoff is very doable just not wanted by the powers that be

This is a great point.  You can see this when it happens with the B12 whenever Texas or Oklahoma are not in position.  The entire thing is hilarious.

So what?  If the G5 team deserves to be there, then they have to beat whoever is put in front of them.  They just deserve a shot

Under the current system;

a G5 team will NEVER make the playoffs... unless, the stars align and they:

They go undefeated in one season; THEN they happened to have scheduled the right P5 teams in the next season; THEN they will need to undefeated again; AND the winnings will need to be convincing. ALSO, the top 4 P5 teams must lose at least 1 game to a non-top 10 team.

If all these happen, then the G5 team can make the playoffs.
