Are you saying that the other 129 teams don't understand? I'm thinking Alabama, Clemson, FSU etc, etc must have their reasons.

I think the reason would be that those particular teams can afford the FCS teams because their conference schedule will allow for them to play them and not really affect their SOS.

Are you saying that we have the same conference schedule luxury as those top SEC and ACC teams? Yes, those schools have their reasons and it has nothing to do with us. They play a tougher conference schedule compared to us and feel justified in playing an FCS foe. Also, the media ignores it for them relative to the four teams in the playoffs.

A quick look reveals that USF does not have any future games scheduled against FCS opponents.   You guys can rest easy after Sept 1. https://gousfbulls.com/news/2012/1/17/611637.aspx

I don't really have a problem playing an FCS team as a "tune up", but there is no doubt that our conference schedule is piss poor compared to the P5 conferences and if we want to have any shot at playing with the big boys in January we have to limit those games so we can schedule more P5 teams like we are doing going forward.   The schedule we have laid out in 2020 would give us some legitimate claim to a playoff spot if we run the table.  If we want a "tune up" game, it will probable need to be an FAU, FIU, Central Michigan, etc. type of team going forward

Plenty of spots there to add some and I'm probably in the minority but hope they do. These games are usually a key source of revenue for FCS (a little purer form of college football) teams,  and would hate to see them go away for that reason .... and I don't think it's that critical for us to not play one a year.

Man, you had to bring up the dreaded "TBD" didn't you?  I am trying to get these guys to focus on what's in front of us.  I don't want them worrying about future demons which don't exist (as of yet).

i mean yeah, but our financial issues means we can't buy our OCS. Theirs means they struggle to make sure their equipment is up to date. not really the same. I don't think we should schedule one every year. But I don't mind one being on the schedule from time to time and I certainly want the P5 to keep scheduling them, but I understand that is not in question here.

Agree about the revenue for FCS and I don't mind seeing them there occasionally, but there are over 60 P5 schools to play them and most of the G5 schools are not even beginning to think about SOS for making the playoffs so they should be able to fill the void
