“Offense sells tickets. Defense wins championships.” - Bear Bryant

I think maybe our D will actually save a couple of games for us this year instead of costing them as in the past.

There's still a lot to prove from that unit before I'm that confident in them.  The leadership and and production lost from guys like Hector, Senat, Sanchez, and Nichols cannot be understated.   All of their replacements aren't totally green but all of those guys were extremely productive and difference makers.

Back in my college days,  bowls weren't named after sponsors,  people went to bowl games to watch football,  not for racing lawnmowers or other gimmicks,  made for TV bottom-feeder-bowls didn’t exist,  and  best of all games didn’t drag out for 4-1/2 to 5 hrs.

that's true but it is what it is and there is nothing I can do about it. What I do know is if USF went to the badboy lawn mowers bowl game and racing lawnmowers brought out another 100-200 fans just because of that I'd be happy. Ive been to all bowl games regardless (well except the international bowl, sorry, im a loser) and our fan base needs to travel better and if racing lawn mowers can make that happen all the better

Leaders leave and are replaced in college football every year. In my opinion there was only one player that stood head and shoulders above the rest and has not been replaced.

Customs stopped us wanting to know why we had so much luggage just for a long weekend. Told him, "jackets and long-johns! We're from Florida."

It didn’t work for Coach Slappy McChoketon.

Right - and our non-mobile QB years led to disaster (see: Ronnie Banks, Mike White, et al) - which was my point.

Mike White was very successful at WKU, and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and is currently on their Active Roster.

I seem to recall seeing Ronnie throw for 2 TDs against the Sooners in Norman, and didn’t he QB the team to Victory in OT against UofL?

We've never had success with a QB other than one that could make plays with his legs. I'm hoping we are aware of and learn from that history.

:vikinghorns: Dave is a genius!  Mike White was a pretty good QB... and he got eaten alive!

Considering he was just drafted a couple months ago I'd hope he'd still be on the active roster......
