Quote from the story:

"Brian (Yankelevitz) and I are lifelong gamblers, the story is as good as winning the money," Axelrod said.

Yea, that is a talent what I want in my college basketball coach.

Well, anyone who signs up for coaching USF basketball has to be a gambler...I think "crap shoot" is apropos.

And truthfully...this bet is probably much more memorable than his assistant coaching tenure at U of SF.

This thread reminds me that USF Men's Basketball has sunk so low, I now long for the days of Greenberg where from a free throw shooting perspective, it was always a gamble and a 50/50 proposition in most cases.

I'm just happy they referred to us as USF and didn't have to explain where we are located.

Yep, a lot of folks lose sight of that. Turn left, turn right...you have a 50-50 shot at winning.

And besides, who doesn't love a little bit o'Vegas ever now and then? Ask our good friend and professor at U of SF, Marvin Karlins. He can spin a yarn or two 'bout being a gamblin' man.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
