What they're saying about Charlie Strong and USF
Joey Knight, Times Staff Writer

Sunday, December 11, 2016 7:32pm

"Charlie Strong to South Florida is the No. 1 coaching hire this cycle." -- Adam Silverstein, CBS Sports

"From seeing him on TV and stuff, hearing that he's a great coach, I'm ready to meet him, get to know how he feels about things, how things will go. But I'll get some more information from guys that I played against or who played with him that he coached, and just see what type of person he (is)." -- Bulls QB Quinton Flowers

"We welcome him to Tampa with open arms. He's a defensive mind, so I think he's really gonna help my game and help me evolve as a player. We're excited for him, we welcome his family. We're happy he wants to be here and wants to be a part of this." -- Bulls MLB Auggie Sanchez

"I don’t think it has to be said, but, great hire by USF. Makes total sense." -- Dennis Dodd, CBS Sports

"Charlie Strong at USF is gonna be a problem!! Pay close attention to the rise of that program!" -- Marcus Spears, SEC Network/ESPN

“He joins our football program at an incredibly exciting time, and we look forward to seeing him build on our ongoing foundation and momentum. The board of trustees and I believe he brings outstanding leadership and experience, and is sure to be a tremendous resource to the entire USF System.” -- Dr. Judy Genshaft, USF president

ChuckStrong is already used by the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL for their coach Chuck Pagano who beat cancer several years ago.

"Coach Strong would always come in the weightroom and work out with the team. It was kind of like he was one of the players; he'd always crack jokes on players. Like if a guy had missed a tackle or missed a play, he'd give 'em hell for it. ... He always said, 'Competitive excellence. Get better, get better, are you getting better today?'" -- Former Florida DB Bryan Thomas, defensive coordinator at Zephyrhills High

My favorite response and something the kids will take to. He's the best of CWT and CJL working out with the team and relating to them.

Reading some of the stuff from UT players, I think he's going to slide into that leadership position with ease. Our kids are going to have a quality man to replace a quality man.

Lol the comments from Auggie, doing everything I can not to read too much into that.

I hope it works out though the quote from Genshaft reminds of similar things said about Skip.
