Taggart's USF salary was 1.8 million a year (5-year for $9 million)

A positive:

Terms of the contract call for him to pay USF a $1.7 million buyout, which the Bulls could use to pay off former football coach Skip Holtz (owed $500,000 a year through Dec. 31, 2017) and ex-men's basketball coach Stan Heath (owed $375,000 annually through April 2018).

Finally, we will be done with that guy.

I thought we liked Taggart.

so with oregon's buyout of thier prior coach and willies salary, they're paying 27.6 million to have him as a coach

I believe that was in reference to awe-shucks Skippy.

plus the $1.7M they pay us

he essentially coached for free this year

much better than having to pay a guy an extra $2.5M not to coach

Twice today I've seen reflected that Willie owes the money, example:

Quote

"According to Taggart's buyout with USF, he will owe the school $1.7 million."

I guess that's just poor choice of words, but I've seen it twice.  I think Oregon pays this.  Weird way to report.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
